Guide to Conflicts of Interest for Public Safety Management (2020 Edition)
The Massachusetts Conflict of Interest Law regulates the conduct of all public officials and employees, including public safety employees. The purpose of the Conflict of Interest Law is to ensure that action that public servants take on the job, after hours, and after leaving public service does not conflict with their public obligations. This Guide provides an overview of the Conflict of Interest Law with a particular focus on public safety personnel and includes discussions on gifts, financial interests, code of conduct issues, divided loyalties, nepotism, outside employment, holding public office, and restrictions on former public employees.
