Here at MPI, we have been receiving inquiries as to the in service training menu for this fiscal year. We will present all of the MPTC (authorized and approved) in service training programs as we have always done and welcome your participation in our proven on line training service.
Legal Updates - 2020/2021 (6 hours)
This program contains a multitude of recent cases that are sure to impact the way in which you perform your duties. We will also revisit some of the cornerstones of police work, to include stop and frisk, threshold inquiry, the protective sweep, consent searches and more.
Responding to Pandemics and other Similar Emergencies - (3 hours)
The purpose of this training is to add to your understanding of communicable diseases and the threat they pose to the public. The goal of this training is to help prepare you so that your department will be able to maintain operational continuity as the pandemic continues.
Implicit Bias - (3 hours)
This program has been designed to provide an understanding of our ever-present human biases and how they may affect our job performance and community relationships. The goal is to decrease the divide between law enforcement and various segments of the public and at the same time advance positive relations through fair and impartial policing. Part of this training will address police policies and procedures.
In-Service “Local Option” Training – 2020/2021
The following programs are available and meet the requirements for MPTC “Local Option” / Additional Training.
Communication & De-escalation (3 hours)
With the possible exception of implicit bias training, no other training is more often demanded by policy makers, politicians, police executives, academics, civil rights activists, and citizens than de-escalation training for police. This training program will focus on how effective communication, in many instances, can help us manage a multitude of situations without the use of force. In addition, we will confront the difficult issues facing law enforcement today and explore some options to make your job safer and more effective.
Suicide: An Unwanted Increase the Ranks
Suicide, the leading killer of law enforcement officers, is again on the rise. Police officers face a great deal of trauma on a day-to-day basis. This constant exposure to devastation, life-threatening situations, and the physical strain of working long hours can leave officers feeling hopeless and anxious. This training is designed to address the internal issues that largely contribute to officer suicide to include self-awareness, recognition of stigma, job protection, and administrative and peer support.
