An Overview of Employee Discipline for Public Safety Management
The ability of a chief to manage an organization as complex and important as a municipal police department is enhanced by the establishment of comprehensive, clear and reasonable rules and regulations that define prohibited and required conduct for all police officers. This training will provide attendees with an overview of employee discipline, including the authority to discipline, termination of probationary employees, theories of discipline, Civil Service disciplinary procedures, labor issues related to the disciplinary process, searches and seizures in the workplace, untruthfulness, and other related topics.
NEED TO KNOW:
- The training will begin on 10/6/20 at 9:00 a.m. and run until approximately 12:00 noon. There may be short (5 minute) breaks throughout this session.
The training will be held using Zoom, an online platform used to facilitate video conferences. In order to access the training, you will be provided with a link at least 24 hours in advance.
- Eric Atstupenas will be conducting the training in a live & recorded format. What this means is that the training modules will be pre-recorded, but that Eric will be watching along with you during each module. During that time, since Eric is not actively speaking, he can engage with attendees using the chat feature in order to answer questions and poll the audience on certain issues. He may address certain questions on chat, and leave other questions to be answered later. After the end of each module, Eric will appear live to answer questions related to that particular module.
- At the conclusion of the training, you will be provided with the slides, any other resources discussed during the presentation, and a certificate of completion.
